Where pages are very long, like a list of events or news items, we might want a way to quickly move back the top of the page.
You will have seen ‘back to the Top’ or some such phrase used on web sites. I have always hated seeing that phrse, because ‘top’ doesn’t really make a lot of sense. Words lke this just distract from the real content.
There are often times, though that pages become very long when lots of items (like in a blog) are listed, and it really does help if there is a quick way to get back to the navigation and menus etc.
Here is what I am doing on a few sites.

I am having a look at some eMarketing services today. It is interesting to see how you can subscribe to services for setting up and sending out email marketing newsletters and the like.
I really want to try and set this up with ExpressionEngine if possible. I notice that Solspace has a link to Constant Contact so this could be a way forward.

I thought it was time to make a break between private stuff and more work related stuff. So you won’t find pictures of children or pets on PageToScreen anymore. You just need to take a look over at chrisjennings.net.
The content is all delivered dynamically through the same database though. How did I do it?

Eric Meyer has written and described a ‘.... slide show format based entirely on XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript.’ With this system it is possible create slide shows which look a little bit like PowerPoint but are in fact, simply one XHTML page.
I came across this presentation technique (known as S5) at a recent conference where some presentation where given in this way. When I exploreed Eric Meyer’s web page and downloaded the blank templates, it occurred to me that it may be possible to use ExpressionEngine to create the content for the slides and then deliver the presentation with this technique.
I have now succeeded in this and I do have an example of a presentation using this method. If you are interested to find out my approach to this and how things have worked out then read on. For a view of the entry system then click over the small image here.
